Weaning

Liam is quickly approaching his first birthday, which was my goal for breastfeeding. So, I am now in the process of weaning. Liam is going to be just fine and could really be done today. So, in reality, the weaning is much more for me. I certainly won't miss the pumping (which I've essentially stopped), but the nursing is just the sweetest, most wonderful experience I could have. Nursing soothes him and calms him and it's so peaceful to watch him just fall right to sleep in my arms, tucked in and snuggled next to my body. Precious. It's such a powerful connection knowing that I've provided nourishment for his little body. I am definitely grieving the loss of that time, but I am also loving watching him grow and develop every day into this active, sweet, joyful little boy.
