18 Months Old!

Liam is 18 months old! His stats at his check up:

35 1/4" tall - off the charts!
28 lb, 10 oz - 80th %

So, looks like he's going to be tall like his daddy!

He is meeting all the developmental milestones. He has a growing vocabulary. Some of his words:

Family: Mama, Daddy, Papa and Popaw (sound a lot alike, but he knows them both), and Dot Dot. He can also say Sedgie and Nana (Anna) from school. We're working on the others!

Animal sounds: Dog (woof, woof), Cat (mee-now), Tiger (Rooooaaaaarrrr!!!), Monkey (ooo, eee, ooo, eee), Chicken (bock, bock), Duck, Bear, Sheep (aaaaaaaaah), Horse (aye!)

Food: Banana (nana), Egg (aye), Cheese (chs - lots of spit), snack (nack), apple (bapple)

Fun: Outside, ball (ba), block (bok), bath (ba), bubbles, truck (ta-ruuuuck - very southern, from his gut), pool (poo)

Body stuff: eye, mouth, knee, poo-poo, and tee-tee

Other: Uh oh!, Shoe (shhhhhhhu), sock (dot)

He can point to his and your hair (that was his first body part to learn, no surprise), ears, eyes, nose, mouth, tongue, hand, fingers, toes, feet, shoes, and knee.

His favorite activity in the whole world is to go outside. His teachers at school say he takes charge and moves everyone in line when it's time to go outside and they aren't moving fast enough. He cried when it's time to go in. He still loves to play with balls and trucks and cars. He's likes things that light up and make sounds. He's also very interested in toys that stack and open and close. Cups and toys that rest inside one another also fascinate him. Bubbles are great fun. We spent 30 minutes one night last week playing with a straw and blowing bubbles into water. He also loves to blow bubbles outside and catch them. He still loves his books and loves to read.

He definitely is assertive and strong-willed. He is not afraid to pitch a fit to get his way and will definitely let you know if he's not happy. He has definitely adopted "no" into his vocabulary and is not afraid to use it frequently to voice his desires.

He is eating well and obviously doesn't miss a meal! Sleep is good, although he still usually wakes up once/night for a bottle. We're planning to extinguish that, but know that he's going to put up a fight.

He is a happy and very active little man. He loves to laugh and play and give kisses. He says "mmmwwaaa" to blow a kiss to you and it's the sweetest thing! He waves at all the cars that drive by our house and the boaters, too, when we're at the lake.

He's still super shy when we're in a new place around new people. But, after about 20 minutes, he's ready to run and have fun.

Pretty amazing how much he understands, even though his ability to communicate with us is limited. The other weekend at my parents, a ball he was playing with rolled under the car and mom said "We're going to have to get the toy golf club to get the ball out from under the car." Liam proceeded to get the golf club and go get the ball out from under the car. Pretty impressive!

Lots to catch up on, but these are some of the developmental milestones. I'm sure they're more, but I want to get to posting pictures, because I think that's probably what you really want.
